In the UK there’s an estimated 10,000 Campervan rental businesses.

They range in size from small side hustles, up to large fleets of campervans and motorhomes and everything in between.

To categorise this, you pretty much have three options.

First option is to find a small rental business which operates like a side hustle from the persons home or small commercial unit, they’ll have between one or ten campers, they’ll easily be found on social media platforms, google search and maps, and will have a basic website. They are typically easy to communicate with at any time of day- this can be via text or WhatsApp, the process is simple and straightforward, they’re friendly and they use their campervans themselves so they can help you with anything you need to know. They’ll be happy to give you a walkthrough of the camper first before you make any decisions.

Second option is to find an operator on a third-party platform like Goboony or Camplify. They’re pretty much the same as your first option, they advertise on a third-party platform amongst others doing the same thing, and all you have to do is find a camper which suits you and your needs and then check dates via the platforms calendar or contact them online via message to arrange a booking. Sometimes you can arrange a viewing with the hirer before you decide to book, sometimes you can’t, it’s really an individual basis.

Third option is choosing a larger operator, they’ll typically have much more vans, which may include motorhomes, and they may also have multiple depots. They’ll have more choice over which camper you choose. You’ll be able to book through their website via a calendar, you’ll find most if not all their communication with you is online via email. Some will allow you to see the campervan first in-person, but some may not because they just don’t want to allocate resources to demonstrations.
